Spotlight on: Stroome
Multimedia storytelling has never been so accessible; the technology behind it can be as simple as a Flip high definition video camera, which retail for $100 and are child’s play to use. Of course, with more and more journalists diversifying to add multimedia skills to their personal portfolios, video editing knowledge is also fast becoming a must.
Stroome is a collaborative online video editing community, which allows shared access to video projects and material to whoever you choose. Create your very own digital newsroom, adding friends to different groups, and then working together on editing projects simultaneously.
Access to materials can be set to just certain specific groups, or you can share within the entire Stroome community, and vice versa - great if you’re looking for clips yourself. Automatic notifications when friends comment and mix-up your materials, or upload new work of their own, keeps you constantly informed. The flagged hot topics meanwhile, are a great way to follow new stories and contributors.
Editing is done in-browser, any place, any time, and with growing numbers of clips and collaborators there are unlimited possibilities.
